It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? #17

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week.  It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment, and er… add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye’s Blog   and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? #16

So I’ve failed – again –  to keep posting reviews for the past two weeks due to suboptimal writing conditions. Still winging it as I go. I sincerely hope 2019 will bring a more manageable routine.

What I Read Last (2) Weeks:

79.the king of con_giacomaro & stoynoff

The King of Con by Thomas Giacomaro & Natasha Stoynoff was truly an enjoyable true crime.

83.the great gatsby_f. scott fitzgerald

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald is a classic that I’ve never read. I skimmed through it plenty of times in the past but have never read it from cover to cover until last week. I’m reading this for pure leisure, so I will not be writing a review on it.

Currently Reading:

82.the peithosian gift_c archer

I am now reading The Peithosian Gift and it has ‘forbidden-love forged by two hearts from warring clans” written all over.

84.saints and misfits_s k ali

“When was the last time I listened to an audiobook?”, I pondered one night. The answer to that dismayed me because it was in July. Hence, the unplanned Saints and Misfits by S. K. Ali. I picked this purely because there’s a ‘modern’ hijabi on the cover.

Up Next:

85.burning sky_weston ochse

It’s that time of the year when all you’re seeing is ads and trailers for horror movies. So that’s what I’m craving to read at this moment, but not necessarily anything supernatural. Burning Sky by Weston Ochse fits the bill in my Netgalley shelf, so that’s what I’m reading next.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? #14

Sometime during the last week, I headed over to my NetGalley badges collection section to see how I’ve been doing. I was delightfully surprised by this badge – yay!:

What I Read Last (2) Weeks:

80.how hard can it be_allison pearson

How Hard Can It Be by Allison Pearson is a sequel to I Don’t Know How She Does it and it was a good read, thank goodness.

81.the happy body_gregorek

I love that I’m buddy-reading The Happy Body: The Simple Science of Nutrition, Exercise, and Relaxation by Aniela & Jerzy Gregorek with my dear husband. I thought this would be one of the very last books I finish this year but it turns out that this was such a quick read.

78.livestock_erin mckenna

I slowly progressed with Livestock: Food, Fiber, and Friends by Erin McKenna. This is one of those books where I need to get through the content rather than savour the writing – so I utilised the skills I gained from The Speed Reading Book.

Currently Reading:

79.the king of con_giacomaro & stoynoff

I had finally started The King of Con last week. I think this will be an interesting book to review.

Up Next:

82.the peithosian gift_c archer

Up next is The Peithosian Gift by Cristina Archer. This is a fantasy speculative fiction with a brief but a capturing blurb.

Since my reading has been quite slow lately, I’m finally catching up to my review commitments.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? #13

I’ve officially completed my Goodreads Reading Challenge for this year *pat self*.

To be perfectly honest I haven’t done much reading lately. I’ve been trying to find a routine in this new environment, so that’s going to take some time.

What I Read Last (2) Weeks:

77.map of shadows_jf penn

Map of Shadows: A Mapwalker Novel is full of potential, to say the least. It’s a world ripe with possibilities, borne out of the author’s interest in maps and cartography, and real life issues.

…and that’s it for what I’ve read the last 2 weeks. Like I said. Not much reading done.

Currently Reading:

78.livestock_erin mckenna

I think Livestock: Food, Fiber, and Friends by Erin McKenna will be on my Currently Reading ensemble for quite a bit of time. It’s not the easiest read. Great topic, though.

80.how hard can it be_allison pearson

How Hard Can It Be by Allison Pearson is a sequel to I Don’t Know How She Does it, which was hailed as the “national anthem for working mothers”. Right now, it’s not looking too good for me but as always, we’ll see.

81.the happy body_gregorek

I used my 2x $15 Amazon Gift Cards (that I won from The Book Date) to get my husband the long sought for The Happy Body: The Simple Science of Nutrition, Exercise, and Relaxation by Aniela & Jerzy Gregorek. I’ll be reading this with him in between others and I expect to be finished with this sometime during the end of the year.

Hmm. That’s two non-fictions.

I know I’m supposed to have started The King of Con this week but hey, things happen. This is the next in line, I promise.

It’s (not) Monday! What Are You Reading?

So I missed posting IMWYR this week on Monday but that’s okay. I’ve just finished moving and yet to unpack. So this will just be a quick post to give you an idea of what I’ve been reading these past two weeks.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? (03/09/18)

It’s September and my birthday’s coming around fast! Does anyone else still get excited about their birthdays anymore?

This month will be utterly hectic for me, hubby, and bubby. We’ll be moving this month so I’m expecting Bookmarks & Blue Light to take a hit. I just hope I can complete my challenges in time.
